Circumcision is one of the oldest surgical procedures. It may be performed for cultural, religious, or health reasons such as phimosis or recurrent balanitis. It may simply just reflect your personal preference or for hygiene purposes. Adult circumcision is an option for men who were not circumcised when they were infants.
Dr Than Tun is a general practitioner with a Fellowship in Surgery (FRCS - Ireland, 2003) and General Practice (FRACGP - Australia, 2006). He has been performing circumcision and vasectomy on the Gold Coast over the past decade. He also performed circumcision whilst practising as a General Surgeon in South Africa. He uses the Pollock technique using a Mogen clamp for circumcision.

- Shower thoroughly.
- Wear comfortable, supportive underwear.
- Arrange for someone to drive you home. Whilst this is not a necessity, it is probably best for your comfort and safety.

Aftercare:
The local anaesthetic will wear off after a couple of hours, after which you will start to feel some discomfort and pain. It usually takes at least 10 days for your foreskin to heal after circumcision. You may need to take 1 week off work to recover. You should avoid having sex or masturbation for 6 weeks.
Here are a few tips to facilitate recovery time...

What is the Pollock technique?
This is a minimally invasive technique for circumcision, which bypasses the need for hospital admission and general anaesthesia. The doctor uses a special instrument (Mogen clamp) which achieves a clean cut using just local anaesthesia. Sutures or skin glue can be used to close the wound.
Where is the procedure done?
The circumcision is performed in the treatment room at Chevron Advanced Medical using local anaesthesia. It is not performed in hospital. There is no general anaesthetic. Local anaesthetic is effective for circumcision using the Pollock technique.
Why are your fees low?
Our fees are kept low as we do not need to hire a hospital room or an anaesthetist.
How long does it take?
The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes.
What if I get a erection after the circumcision?
You should not have sex or masturbate for 6 weeks after the circumcision. However, erections during this period will be common and normal.
