Do you have phimosis, balinitis or another medical condition requiring a circumcision? Whether it's a medical or personal reason, come and see Dr Than Tun at Chevron Advanced Medical. We are conveniently located in the heart of Gold Coast with free 3h street parking.

Dr Than Tun is a general practitioner with a Fellowship in Surgery (FRCS - Ireland, 2003) and General Practice (RACGP - Australia, 2006). He has been performing circumcision on the Gold Coast over the past decade. He also performed circumcision whilst practising as a General Surgeon in South Africa in the 1990s. Circumcision is done under local anaesthesia, so there is minimal down time.

How to book your circumcision:
(1) You must be an adult male aged > 18 years old.
(2) This step is optional. You can book a consult with Dr Tun to discuss your circumcision options. If you are a new patient, a consult fee will apply to your first visit as per our billing policy. The consult fee is $75 with a rebate of $38. Subsequent visits are bulk billed.
(3) If you have already decided to go ahead with your procedure, feel free to book online with Dr Tun via Hotdoc. Alternatively, feel free to call us on (07) 55388811. Please provide your full name, date of birth and phone number. We will give a courtesy call to confirm your appointment one day prior to your procedure.

The gap fee is $535
(fee of $650 with rebate of approximately $115 given back to you in clinic)

Before booking, please read the information below about circumcision and how to prepare for the procedure.

Before the procedure:

There are some simple things you can do to get ready before your appointment:

  1. Shave pubic hairs around the genital region.
  2. Shower thoroughly and bring comfortable, supportive underwear.
  3. Arrange for someone to drive you home. Whilst this is not a necessity, it is probably best for your comfort and safety.
  4. If you are a new patient to the clinic, please arrive 5 minutes in advance to fill in a "new patient registration form" as well as a "consent form".

The local anaesthetic will wear off after a couple of hours, after which you will start to feel some discomfort and pain. Do not take Aspirin as it may worsen bleeding. Here are a few tips to facilitate recovery time:
  1. Go directly home and rest.
  2. Use pain killers. Panadol or Panadeine Forte is advised. Never use more than directed.
  3. Plan to stay off your feet as much as possible for 2 days.
  4. Wear comfortable underwear/briefs that are supportive.
  5. If you have any concerns, book an appointment to see Dr Tun. If it is an emergency, go to the Gold Coast Hospital or your nearest Emergency Centre.

Risks and complications

The following risks are rare but possible with circumcision:
- Excessive bleeding.
- Wound infection and delayed wound healing.
- The foreskin is cut too short or left too long.
- Reattachment of the foreskin to the penis, which may require further minor surgery.
- Decrease in sensation of the head of the penis.
